Q: What’s so special about C2?
A: C2 is captivating to teens, easy to present for educators, has great student handouts, is very interactive and interesting, and is inexpensive, especially its per student cost. Best of all, teens love it and it works!
C2 is a comprehensive character education curriculum based on the latest psychological research. We use current movies like Spiderman, Step Up, and Dan in Real Life to illustrate 28 character strengths in an interactive group version and an independent study version.
Q: How did you choose these 28 character strengths?
A: Psychologist Martin Seligman, former president of the APA [American Psychological Association], found that the secret to happiness was character strength. These 28 are a comprehensive list covering all areas of character. He started a movement that now is revolutionizing psychology. C2 is the first character training program based on his findings. Q: What comes with the C2 curriculum?
A: C2 has 24 sessions. Each includes a detailed presentation on the character strength, journal questions, and group discussion to teach the strength and help teens integrate the strength into their lives. With your purchase of C2, you also receive a membership to Pursuing Happiness. As a benefit to our members, we furnish the movie clips on DVD. Each session uses one popular movie and breaks it down into 3 clips that are each 7-10 minutes long to illustrate that strength. Teens love this stuff!
Q: What if you only have the opportunity to use 8 or 9 sessions?
A: That’s great! Not every program can be comprehensive in its character education. That’s why PH offers each session with its DVD for sale individually. Also, you can buy an 8-pack or a 12-pack of your choice of lessons in a handy binder. For a custom quote please contact us.
Q: In our program, we use the trait of Honesty, but in C2, you call it Integrity. Can we still use your material? How?
A: Often a character strength is the same but we use a different word for it. Because we have self-published C2, we can re-write any session to make the title and wording appropriate for your program. Talk to Mark Liston about this.
Q: Is C2 religious or Christian-based?
A: No. C2 is based on good research, time-tested wisdom, and Positive Psychology. We recognize the importance of spirituality, but we leave its expression to the student. We use quotes from religious and non-religious sources that speak eloquently of the truths we teach.
